Rewarded UA will keep evolving as data analysis improves, with smarter targeting and custom rewards shaping the future.
Rewarded user acquisition has already come a long way, emerging from the infancy of paid-installs and app-ranking manipulation, into an increasingly sophisticated, data-driven adolescence, poised to take over the mobile UA landscape. But when we talk about the data-driven future of rewarded UA, what do we really mean? What tangible improvements can we expect?
Better data-analysis will undoubtedly bring the most significant changes to rewarded UA, and will help platforms to employ smarter user-targeting, and build dynamic reward structures. We predict this will be the industry's main focus in 2025.
Smarter User-Targeting
The success of rewarded UA platforms depend in large part on their ability to attract high-value users and retain them. These are the users who are comfortable spending money in-app, and who we want to encourage with well-designed reward funnels to stay on the platform, unlocking rewards and trying new games.
Data can play two roles here. First, it can be used to help target the most high-potential users more precisely, which will make all of our efforts on-site transforming those users into customers more efficient. And second, once those users have signed-up, we can use data to improve how we connect them with the 'perfect' game.
If we can accurately track a player’s behavior across games, and compare it to the behavior of other users, we should eventually be able to predict the game that will keep them engaged the longest. If we can achieve this at the first point of contact with new users, we can guarantee better retention.
Custom Reward Funnels
Besides finding the right customer, and exposing them to the perfect game, we will also use better data-analytics to create custom reward funnels for each user. We envisage dynamic reward funnels that adjust to new users, low-spenders and high-spenders in the near-future on our platform.
Improving upon that over the coming years, we can expect far more sophisticated segmentation. For instance, if a user is more encouraged by constant feedback and small gains, the reward funnel for them could be broken up, with a dollar’s worth of rewards spread across several smaller tasks. But if the user instead prefers larger, more tangible rewards, a dollar’s worth of rewards could be condensed into a single task.
What Next?
These two improvements will have a radical and positive effect on rewarded UA, which is why they are already being worked on by most major platforms. And there will surely be even greater and more impactful changes, that we cannot yet foresee, which will shape this industry in the near future.
